In the Mirror by Byron Beynon

In The Mirror
.
He will remain sitting in this familiar room
surrounded by objects that gather
the knowing weight of dust.
The companionship of a mirror
stares back at the angle of his head,
restless legs crossed for effect,
reminding him of how
an image can stick
in the stubborn brain.
The exact chairs,
the stillness of a plant growing,
his eyes looking softly
into the rhythmic imagining of the glass,
sensing the shadows encroaching
round the narrative of a vanished life.
